A first grade teacher in Virginia had 25 students in her class. She took a bunch of well-known proverbs and read the first half of each one. Then she asked the kids to come up with the other half. It's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you. While reading, keep in mind that these are first graders, 6-year-olds, because the last one is a classic!

Those is smart kids.
ReplyDeleteThings I have wondered about that these youngsters could perhaps solve:
If you can be nonplussed, why is nobody ever plussed?
Similarly, if a patient is "incontinent", are the rest of us usually "continent"?
If God helps those who help themselves, why do those who help themselves at stores end up charged with shoplifting, and at buffets end up obese?
Why do we park on a driveway? And drive on a parkway?
Why do we tell people who write to us that it was "good to hear from you"? Shouldn't it be "good to see from you"? (That one only occurred to me after I went deaf.)
I gots lots more but I gets distracted easily.
