First week!!

Isn't that a sweet, peaceful, interested little fellow??  He's enjoying his world!!  That must be dad holding him--notice the tattoo.....

Mom has been doing a fabulous job for all those long months (well, they're more into weeks now, but e'en so, they add up)!  Now that he's here, she's measuring intake & output, even.  A true nurse!

  5. from the mail box:

"GREAT Grandson! Holy Moly! Do you realize you have lived several lifetimes between the convent, being married with children, and then being with women? That’s a lot of herstory for one woman to have.

Thanks for the dirt on the pope!

    Love to you, Mary Ellen,

    1. seems he's not as dirty as others.....cooks his own dinner and rides the metro in Buenos Aires. but how do these guys sleep at night--turning over fellow jesuits to the right wing for imprisonment/death. don't get it.

No, the previous Anonymous was not me. I'm still scratching my head over the color-coding of sexes so that we may be sure to treat the little tykes appropriately. *chortling*

P.S. And you know that I'm not the gushy type! ; )

    1. Cop Car: this is too funny. i have two friends who hang out online with the initials CC. And I was referring to the OTHER CC, who OFTEN forgets to sign her name. Never you. You always remember.

What color coding? so far he hasn't appeared in PINK yet, that shouldn't be confusing. He has a much bigger wardrobe at less than 2 weeks than his dad does, so he has all kinds of hats to choose from. I saw a neat grey & black hat on an infant yesterday in the Metro, but he(?) & his ma got off before I had a chance to ask her where she got it.

I am not the gushy type, either. My usual response to infants is "oh, cute...." end of sentence.
Learned that one the hard way when some dear friends adopted an asian baby, and i went to their house to visit. There was another couple there who also had just received their adopted asian baby, and i gushed all over the place--all over the WRONG BABY. The appropriate baby was taking her nap elsewhere. so now I keep my mouth mostly shut until things are clearer.

Thanks for visiting. Always a pleasure when you stop by.

Well...there I am reading blogs when I see a little baby in blue...a boy. Obviously, someone thinks it important that others know the sex of the child. There I am sitting with a group of women having a nice quiet lunch when one of our group says, "Isn't that a cute little girl over there?" Surely enough, in a nearby booth is a baby, not more than three months old, sporting a pink headband and posy. Obviously, her parents thought it important that others know the sex of the child.
What difference does the sex of a child make at that age?
The discussion at our table turned to the women's movement that we observed/participated in back in the 1960s-1970s. During "The Movement", one of the issues was that girls were handicapped in life achievements by the fact that they were treated differently, starting from a very young age. Had the child in the booth been sporting a blue cap, what would the comment concerning the child have been? That was our point of discussion.
This is what led to my chortling.
I will be delighted to see the photo posted of your great-grandson (or mine, for that matter) wearing a pink hat!
I sign off, bemusedly, and thank you for your unfailing courtesy. (Thanks. too, for the laugh "with" you concerning the baby confusion.)
