...for spending MORE time replaying and commenting on Dick Cheney's idiotic rant than giving full coverage to our President's speech today.
Once again, I have shut off the TV.
I do not want to be counted in the audience of any program that gives free and unmerited coverage to a failed administrator like Cheney.
Let the advertisers beware.
Newspapers sales are falling, TV news ratings are plummetting, and yet the people who produce the news STILL can't let go of the Bush Administration.
They still think we want to hear what Dick Cheney and people like Newt Gingrich, et al., have to say.
Is this the kind of content for which you want to spend your advertising dollars?
Don't be dumb. We don't want to hear them any more. We voted them out. And we're voting them out with our remotes, too.
Peggy's Mom, I don't think it has to do with content at all. The media has came to a point of pumping up viewership, audience etc by self hyped drama like the "The Big Snow Storm is Coming!!! Get Your Toilet Papers and Loaf of BREAD!!!" They are trying to make you believe that there is some kind of ideological war between Obama and Chenney. I don't think Obama gives a shit what that monester has to say!
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the reasons I don't have TV at all. I like the web, I get to choose what I want to read!
How is life in Petworth young lady? Did you find any hot black guys yet?
Uncle Mad...hey!! thanks for stopping by!!
ReplyDeletei mistrust all that coverage of cheney. they're pushing his point of view on us, but who cares about his point of view? he's a freakin war criminal, and he can sing his sad song to the judges in the Hague. and i'm sure not concerned about whether Obama believes him! Obama is so much smarter and better and brighter than to pay attention to an old crook like Cheney.
you're right: time to toss out the TV completely. i do keep it off except to watch countdown and rachel maddow on msnbc.
i meet lots of nice guys here, but they're totally disinterested in antiquities, if you know wot i mean....
how's life on the taxi driving beat?? love that PoP blog you introduced all of us to.
And this ain't Petworth. It's NOTHING. there's about 9 square blocks that fall outside of all the neighborhood boundaries in these parts, and I live in it. It's like Vatican City...IN but not OF....
xo, peggy's mom
I guess everyone knows how I feel about the news coverage given to Cheney. I don't know why the TV producers bother to call them news shows when they are just entertainment; and not good entertainment at that.
ReplyDeletedarlene: yeah, it's LOUSY. nothing entertaining or informative about it.
ReplyDeletealso, in an article in today's Truthout on Cheney's intervention in a CIA torture probe [http://www.truthout.org/052209R?n], a commenter asks "Why is Cheney still being given a forum to speak. He is a ghastly human being who represents the twisted evil right neo-con propaganda machine"
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, said similar last night as tried to watch keith olbermann. i really like rachel maddow when she lets her smart self fill the time but the cuteness pieces are not worthy of her (or my) intelligence.
ReplyDeletethere's so much about that creepy old d.c. (not the place where you live) that i have new theory. the press that believes in "fair & balanced" coverage cannot find anything else to cover in the dissolving repub party. good luck to them!
