I really liked that bit of video!

I did, too, Peg! Seems to me that if some crazed shooter with an automatic and a high-load magazine was spraying a crowd with bullets, and I stood up trying to get a gun out of my bag or pocket, I'd be a certain target. No thanks. Guns do not make us safe. Run, hide, play dead--all of those action are better.
p.s. I deleted my own comment...duplicate!
I'm with you M.E., duck and hide. Guns just cause more problems than they solve. There are 300 million guns in this country, one for every man, women, and child, and yet not ONE civilian with a gun has ever prevented a mass shooting.Happy New Year and stay healthy and safe.
Thanks, Diana. A happy, healthy New Year to you, too.
I think allowing or encouraging everyone to carry a concealed weapon would be utter madness, not likely to protect anyone, but increasing the likelihood of accidental, accidental-on-purpose, or deliberately intentional shootings of themselves or others. I say this based on individual situations with "normal" individuals with which I've been aware through the years.Additionally, there is the serious situation currently with individuals who have mental health issues not receiving the care they need, plus having access to guns much too readily.
Joared: I grew up among people who had guns in the house--shotguns (several kinds) and rifles, mostly. Just about everyone had at least a .22 for shooting ground squirrels or coyotes. Every town had a town lunatic, too. But we always considered them harmless. My mom used to hire our town nut to help her rake the garden after growing season. What we did not have--until I was a teenager--was TV. And guns in the movies were the six-shooters in old Westerns. When imagination spins out of control, who is sane and who isn't? We can't go back 50 years in every way, but we could calm down. Reminds me....I have to take my bike to the shop for its annual tuneup. Happy New Year!!
Amazing, eye-opening video! More guns against guns makes not sense. TV and movie violence sets up unrealistic expectations about what "good guys" can do and distorts ideas about what's good and justified. Here's to a happier, saner New Year.
If one rent-a-cop could prevent mass shootings, why do we waste money on having SWATs respond to reports of an active shooter? Gosh, how our local law enforcement offices love to waste our money!Cop Car
CC: Could one rent-a-cop prevent mass shootings? Not sure how that would be possible--or that I understand. DC spends a lot of $$ on law enforcement, and it's pretty much not a waste at all. What is a waste is the $$ pouring into political campaigns from NRA! Shameful.Happy New Year!! All the best in 2013!!
